Reflexology for pregnancy

20 September, 2011

Reflexology stimulates healing throughout the body using pressure points on the feet.

It is an ancient Eastern healing tradition based on the principle that all parts of our body are connected by energy pathways which end in the hands, feet and head.  Reflexology is a can be used to support pregnancy, labour and the post-natal period (see also pre-and post-natal massage). It aims to look after the mind, body and spirit of the mother and baby to be.

What conditions is it used for?

Reflexology used during pregnancy aims to revitalise and energise, encourage a healthy pregnancy, ease labour and hasten after birth recovery.

What to expect

Seeing a qualified reflexologist gives you the opportunity to discuss your pregnancy with a professional with years of training and experience.  Your reflexologist will start with a detailed consultation and will then ask you to lie on the couch with your footwear removed.  They will then work on your feet, concentrating on specific reflex points that will help support your pregnancy.
