Super start granola

16 March, 2015

This superfood-packed granola helps to sustain and balance energy throughout the day.

Our recipe also contains superfood herbal powders to help you to manage stress more productively and boost natural vitality for better mood, energy levels and immune function.

Ingredients

  • 300g rolled oats – a rich source of B vitamins for stress support and slow release energy
  • 50g sunflower seeds – rich in essential fatty acids for energy
  • 50g sumpkin seeds – contain zinc for skin repair
  • Small handful of dried mixed fruit – for antioxidants, part of your ‘5 a Day’
  • Handful of almonds
  • Handful of mixed hazelnuts and pine nuts
  • 125ml organic or local honey – for boosting natural immunity
  • 2 tsp rhodiola powder – an adaptogen herb for greater resistance to stress
  • 3 tsp baobab powder – nutrient dense, high source of vitamin C
  • 10 tsp chia seeds – power-packed for energy and stamina
  • 3 tsp organic bee pollen – contains all the nutrients necessary for life
  • Small handful goji berries – potent antioxidants to support immunity and restore vitality
  • Small handful mulberries – a rich source of anthocyanins (even in white mulberries) for healthy circulation and heart

Method

1 Gently heat the honey to make it more runny

2 Mix together the honey, rhodiola, baobab & bee pollen

3 Add this mixture to the other ingredients in a large mixing bowl and stir thoroughly

4 Turn the mixture out onto a large baking tray and spread evenly

5 Pop into the oven at gas mark 2 or 150ºC and bake for 10-15 minutes, until golden brown, turning the mixture halfway through

Once the granola is cold, store it in an air-tight jar ready to enjoy each morning with natural yoghurt. Serve alongside a cup of delicious green tea for a super start to the day.
