Age defying superfoods

21 September, 2015

Whatever your age you want to look your best.

Superfoods are especially nutritious, often rich sources of antioxidants, essential fatty acids, vitamins & minerals, helping give the body the raw tools it needs for repair and rejuvenation.

This is my personal list for maintaining beauty – but of course but other types of suprfoods may also be beneficial for other age related problems like joints, the mind, energy and a healthy heart.

Bee pollen
A protein rich power pack of nutrients and antioxidants. Bee pollen aids repair of all tissues throughout the body and contains the antioxidant ‘rutin’ that supports blood vessel strength. It helps stimulate the growth of new skin tissue, preventing dehydration and  increasing blood supply to the skin cells, helping slow signs of premature ageing.

Mulberry
Traditional Chinese Medicine prescribes mulberry for longevity and youthfulness, it helps balance body fluids & preserves youthfulness, even said to prevent grey hair. It’s bursting with protective antioxidants, including vitamins A and C, plus antioxidant resveratrol, which has been noted for positive effects on age and longevity.

Baobab
A very long lived tree, the oldest recorded being around 5000 years! Bursting a multitude of minerals, antioxidants
and with vitamin C, baobab stimulates collagen production for healthy skin, hair, teeth and bones, whilst antioxidants
protect us from ageing free radical damage.

Hemp Powder
Rich in skin healing zinc & vitamin E, omega-3 essential fatty acid’s and omega-6 GLA (gamma linolenic acid) whicih inhibits the formation of prostaglandins and reduces inflammation. Hemp also contains sulphur, a fantastic beauty aid that helps the body produce collagen, plus silica for healthy bones, skin, hair and nails.

Goji Berry
Regarded as a national treasure in Tibet where it’s known as ‘the key to eternal youth’. It’s extremely nutritious, dense in minerals, trace elements and one of the richest antioxidant fruits in the world. This makes it extremely beneficial as an antiinflammatory and for protecting from environmental damage.

Chia Seeds
Chia seeds are especially rich in omega-3 essential fatty acids which help reduce inflammation, working on a cellular level for healthy skin. As they absorb such high levels of water chia seeds offer prolonged hydration to the body.
